Fondant covered baby shower animal cake. Cereal treat and fondant octopus, monkeys, palm trees, frogs with lily pads, ducks, and turtles.

This was such a fun cake to do. This cake was for a baby shower. The mom to be had picked out several animals that she wanted in her nursery. I created replica's of the animals from looking at her bedding. This is a two tier, double layer cake. The bottom tier is a 2 layer 10" delectable chocolate cake with buttercream icing, covered with freshly made sage fondant. The top tier is an 8" double layer yellow cake with buttercream, covered in sage fondant as well. The octopus on top is a cereal treat, frosted with buttercream and covered in fondant. The tentacles are hand sculpted from fondant. The various animals included are monkeys, turtles, ducks, and frogs..

The frog was hand sculpted from fondant, as well as the lily pad. The monkey was hand scultped and created from modeling chocolate. The palm tree is a combination of modeling chocolate and fondant (leaves). The stump is hand sculpted, the leaves are hand cut.
